Receive and identify

Prepare appropriate housing, identify each animal and establish records that follow their care and placement.

Quarantine and rehabilitate

The receiving plan provides for a quarantine, veterinary care and rehabilitation. Individual needs may require longer care.

Prepare for pet homes

GCA designees will review prospective homes, housing, care knowledge and the ability to meet a chinchilla’s long-term needs.

Keep the network ready

The rescue building will continue supporting future emergencies and other rescue needs as animals move to suitable homes.

THE GCA VISION

Built around the animals.

Temporary rescue housing and lifelong sanctuary residency serve different needs. Rescue animals will receive care while suitable placements are explored. The sanctuary will provide a lifetime home for its residents.

Companion-Book will support animal identification, care histories, herd-management records and placement documentation. GCA’s team will coordinate recipient inquiries and practical care capacity.

We also plan to support smaller 501(c)(3) chinchilla rescues when they reach capacity. As space and care resources allow, GCA will accept transfers, including chinchillas those organizations have been unable to rehome. Each animal will be considered for a suitable pet home or lifelong sanctuary based on its needs. By providing another path for these animals, we can help local rescues keep their doors open and continue serving their communities.

At GCA Rescue & Sanctuary, chinchillas will never be allowed to breed. Our purpose is rescue, rehabilitation, placement in vetted pet homes and lifelong sanctuary care.

The Ohio situation helped us realize there is no time like the present to move this project forward. GCA is building toward a prepared, permanent rescue response so future chinchillas have a place for specialized care, rehabilitation and a path to a loving home.

We want our community to see how this project takes shape and how its support changes lives. GCA will share regular, dated updates from fundraising and facility preparation through rescue, rehabilitation and placement. We will share challenges and setbacks alongside milestones, explain changes to the plan and welcome questions.

Where your support goes

We will report confirmed funding, project spending and progress toward each phase, with clear distinctions between funds received, future goals and work still to be done.

The lives you help change

Once animals are in our care, we will share photographs, care and rehabilitation updates, and rescue and placement outcomes. Supporters will be able to follow their progress while we protect animal welfare and the privacy of adopters, donors and other individuals.
